Solar Powered Hand Washing Dispensers

Two astronomy students from Meru University of Science and Technology developed a solar-powered, foot-activated hand washing dispenser. The project distributes kits to 4 public schools around the university, using the device to spark curiosity about solar energy among pupils.

Teacher Training in Astronomy & Astrophysics

Continuing the teacher training initiated by the Network for Astronomy School Education (NASE) in 2019, this project delivers online training supported with materials and mobile data to help teachers incorporate astronomy into science and mathematics education.

Online Astronomy Lessons

Weekly online astronomy lessons developed and shared via social media, including a virtual tour of the 32-metre radio telescope at Kutunse in Accra, hands-on activities, and introductory Python programming. Open to anyone with an interest in astronomy.

New Planetarium Shows in Arabic

Five original planetarium shows produced in Arabic spanning science, physics, biology, chemistry, and earth sciences — all connected through astronomy. Gender-neutral content designed to inspire girls to pursue science careers through relevant role models.

Starlore Film Production

A short fulldome planetarium show about African Starlore, co-sponsored by APA and the National Research Foundation. Featuring Khoi and San starlore traditions, the film is distributed free to 4,250 planetaria worldwide (reaching over 140 million annual visitors) celebrating African astronomical heritage on a global stage.
